Photo of the Month: Marine construction on the Kingsford Smith Drive Project

Welcome to 2018 and another year of our Photo of the Month competition. Every month we select our favourite pictures taken by our staff working across Australia, delivering bulk fuel and servicing customers in the city, suburbs and country.
Our Photo of the Month winner for January comes from our team member, Dave, who looks after Lendlease on the Kingsford Smith Drive Upgrade Project in Brisbane.
In this photo, our team are refuelling a gigantic 750 Tonne Crawler Crane, which is part of the marine construction works on the Kingsford Smith Drive Upgrade (KSDU).
This area requires major construction activity involving deep trenches to allow for installation of large concrete chambers, pits, pipes and conduit, followed by backfill and replacement of the road service. The team at KSDU are using this particular crane for its advantage of offering higher lift capability with lower ground bearing capacity, particularly to industrial construction sites.
For those based in Brisbane, the KSDU site looks like a hub of activity, with the project now in its second stage. There will be three more stages before final configurations, with the final works boasting three lanes in each direction, a new river walk and cycle path, continuous footpaths on both sides of the road and a tree-lined thoroughfare creating a sub-tropical vista as commuters enter Brisbane CBD. It’s a much-welcomed project for commuters in this area, who have struggled with heavy peak hour traffic.
This is not the first time we’ve mentioned our work with Lendlease either. You can check out more photos from stage one of the KDSU project from back in May 2017, when we refuelled their fleet of earthmoving plant and equipment on-site.
All of our building and construction clients value having plant and equipment ready-to-go, on demand, to keep the job moving. We come to you, wherever you are, whatever time – our business, much like many construction and building projects, is designed to run around the clock so there’s no delay when your workers show up for the day.
