Photo of the Month: Deep in the Quarry

Part of our culture at Bulk Fuel Australia is to recognise the hard work that goes into delivering bulk fuel to various locations around the country. One of the ways we do that is through our Photo of the Month competition.
We have clients big and small. Some are in the isolated reaches of the outback. Others are part of major cities in Australia construction hubbub. All of them, however, have completely different needs, especially when it comes to safety practices, which the BFA team needs to be flexible for. We were contracted to refuel plant and equipment in one of Australia’s many quarries, we had the experience to take on the risks that are a natural part of working in this kind of environment. It’s also the reason why this fantastic photo of our Bulk Fuel Australia truck is our Photo of the Month. The grandeur of the old earth contrasting against our man-made technology makes for a striking picture.
A quarry is a pit made in the land below the natural surface to extract or remove the stone and other materials. This can include:
- Sandstone or freestone for building and construction
- Basalt, granite or limestone used for construction, manufacturing or laying our roads
- Quartz
- Slate or gravel
- Clay
- Peat
- Sand, earth or soil
Of course, digging this deep into the earth and maneuvering a fuel truck around an environment like this has inherent risks. Everything from finding stable ground, to falling rocks, to exposure to hazardous substances needs to be accounted for when refuelling an earthmoving site. Along with our risk assessment procedures carried out by our professional refuelling team, our hard-working purpose-built fuel tank trucks are designed to access difficult terrain that traditional fuel tankers can’t reach.
This process of supply fuel to earthmoving sites isn’t arduous and filled with paperwork either. We are an agile company who can supply both scheduled and emergency fuel to just about any earthmoving project in Australia.
