Early on, management at Bulk Fuel Australia recognised the benefits of integrating a system like DriveCam into its fuel distribution fleet. It seemed the obvious choice to improve driver safety, track bulk fuel deliveries in real-time and ensure regulatory compliance.
So, what is DriveCam? DriveCam consists of a palm-sized digital event recorder, an event download system, software for analysing events and driver coaching. The system is designed to capture audio and video inside and outside the vehicle when triggered by unusual motion, such as hard braking, swerving or a collision. The footage is then reviewed for driver coaching or to assist in accident investigations.
Improved safety
With the DriveCam system implemented across our entire fuel delivery fleet, not only can we identify why accidents happen, we can also identify, prioritise and correct the causes of poor driving before they lead to a collision. With DriveCam and its patented video event recorder, we’ve managed to successfully transform our safety culture and better enable bottom-line results.
Fleet tracking
A crucial part of the DriveCam system is GPS data. This data is used to provide a real-time view of fleet operations, which improves productivity and prevent fuel wastage. It means we can track the real-time status of any and all of our bulk fuel deliveries and monitor operations.
Regulatory compliance
Finally, DriveCam has the added benefit of ensuring our fuel distribution fleet complies with the various safety regulations, be it tracking hours of service, vehicle inspections, driver qualifications and training, and collisions.
