As bulk fuel specialists, we’re interested in all things “bulk” and all things “tankers”. That’s why a day like Bulk Tanker Day makes so much sense to us. The National Bulk Tanker Association is gearing up for another Bulk Tanker Day, which will be held on 30 August at the Sydney Motorsport Park, NSW.

Now in its 10th year, the hands-on day is designed for those in the tanker industry to demonstrate opportunities to make every day safer through new technologies and processes. Bulk Tanker Day is supported by the Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authority Council, the NSW Environmental Protection Authority, Roads and Maritime Services, SLP and more.

Wondering whether you should attend? If you’re a tanker manufacturer, operator, regulator, enforcer or other industry personnel, this is your day to exchange views in a practical setting. You’ll get to engage with key agencies and experts, who will focus on the development of a national tanker safety strategy.

Bulk Tanker Day Highlights for 2018

There will be a number of small events, talks and demonstrations throughout the day, with representatives from Ixom, Dow and Viva making the rounds too, but these are the events not to miss:

• Lessons learnt from the Coronial recommendations
• National Bulk Tanker Association and the National Transport Insurance (NTI) accident statistics and analysis
• Practical exercise in emergency response with Fire and Rescue NSW
• Best practice sessions on equipment, maintenance, inspections, safety and compliance

Excitement is building for Bulk Tanker Day, with National Bulk Tanker Association Executive Director, Rob Perkins, saying “We have close to 20 companies showing their wares with tankers, components and safety gear. It’s the one day of the year to catch up with industry colleagues, learn from others and share your experience in creating a safer tanker industry.”
